HTML Search and Replace

At the document level, HTML Search and Replace allows you to replace all instances of a term in a single HTML document. At the folder level, you can replace all instances of the term in every document in the folder or an entire branch of the Browse Tree. For HTML Search and Replace to run correctly,

The document must be published or released for approval.
The view extension must be HTML, or the edit extension must be HTML and the view extension must be Qualtrax Generated PDF.
If the HTML document was created with Word, it should be saved as Web Page, Filtered.

 

1.Right click a document or folder and select Run HTML Search and Replace.  The screen shown below opens in the View Frame.  For folders, choose whether you want to include documents at every level of the Browse Tree beneath the current folder, or within first-level documents only.

 

2.Enter original and replacement text.

3.Leave Ignore differences with letter casing unchecked to replace text only when the capitalization precisely matches the Original Text you entered in step 2, or check the box to replace all instances of the Original Text, regardless of capitalization.

 

 

 

4.Leave Ignore whitespace differences unchecked to replace text only when the spacing precisely matches the Original Text you entered in step 2. Check the box to replace all instances of the Original Text, regardless of spacing.

5.Click Run HTML Search and Replace.

 

6.You will see a confirmation message that the process completed successfully (documents) or has been scheduled to run later (folders). Although this process does not entail a full revision, it does modify the document and will be automatically recorded in the Edit Reason and Changes Made fields in the document’s revision history, using the following format:  “Automatic search and replace was performed by Andy on 6/29/2009 9:57:19 AM. The term 'Documant' was replaced by 'Document.' “
