Edit/View Extensions

In Qualtrax, documents can have the same or different extensions for viewing and editing.  An example of a document that users would normally want to have the same extension for viewing and editing would be MS Word documents.  For that example, when creating a new document, the  user would specify that the document uses the same extension for viewing and editing as shown below:

If, however, a user wants the Edit Origin to be different than the View Origin, then they must select that option and specify both extension types.  For instance, if the user wanted the View Origin to be a HTM file and the Edit Origin to be MS Word they would need to identify both those extensions and import both versions of the document.

In addition, an Editor of a document or a user with Edit Document Properties permission, can select the View and Edit Types on the General tab of the Document Properties of an existing document when it is in Edit status.
